CAD to EUR over the last 30 days
Over the 23 ECB working days from 2 Sept 2026 to 2 Oct 2026, 1 CAD ranged from 0.6201 EUR (25 Sept 2026) to 0.6256 EUR (2 Oct 2026), averaging 0.6223. Today's 0.6256 is above that average by 0.53%.
For 1,000 CAD, that range is the difference between 620.07 and 625.61 EUR: 5.54 EUR, or 0.89% of the low. The biggest one-day move was +0.69% on 2 Oct 2026.
Example: a bank or card that sets its rate 3% worse than mid-market would pay 606.84 EUR for 1,000 CAD today instead of 625.61, keeping 18.77 EUR. That 3% is more than this rate's whole 30-day range, so the margin you pay matters more than the day you convert.
Who converts CAD to EUR, and why
Canadian dollars to euros is used by Canadians travelling to Europe (France, Portugal, Italy and Ireland are popular), by Quebec and Canadian businesses buying European goods, and by Canadians with property or family in the euro area.
- Budgeting a European holiday from Canada
- Paying a euro invoice from a Canadian business account
- Sending money to family in Portugal, Italy or France
Tip: Canadian bank cards commonly add about 2.5% to foreign purchases. A no-foreign-transaction-fee credit card or a multi-currency account makes a bigger difference on a trip than a few days' movement in the rate.
About the two currencies
The Canadian Dollar (CAD) is issued by the Bank of Canada and used in Canada. Notes are polymer ($5 to $100), and the $1 and $2 coins are the loonie and toonie. The penny was withdrawn in 2013, so cash totals are rounded to the nearest 5 cents.
The Euro (EUR) is issued by the European Central Bank and the national central banks of the euro area and used in 21 EU member states (Bulgaria became the 21st on 1 January 2026), plus Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City by agreement, and Montenegro and Kosovo unilaterally. Coins run from 1 cent to €2 and notes from €5 to €200 in daily use. The €500 note is no longer issued but remains legal tender. The ECB publishes the reference rates this site uses.
