IDR to USD over the last 30 days
Over the 23 ECB working days from 2 Sept 2026 to 2 Oct 2026, 1 IDR ranged from 0.0000556 USD (28 Sept 2026) to 0.0000572 USD (9 Sept 2026), averaging 0.0000563. Today's 0.0000557 is below that average by 1.06%.
For 1,000 IDR, that range is the difference between 0.06 and 0.06 USD: 0.00 USD, or 2.87% of the low. The biggest one-day move was -0.77% on 24 Sept 2026.
Example: a bank or card that sets its rate 3% worse than mid-market would pay 0.05 USD for 1,000 IDR today instead of 0.06, keeping 0.00 USD. That 3% is more than this rate's whole 30-day range, so the margin you pay matters more than the day you convert.
Who converts IDR to USD, and why
Rupiah to dollars is used by travellers working out Bali and Jakarta prices, digital nomads and retirees paid or spending in Indonesia, and businesses buying Indonesian goods such as furniture, coffee or textiles.
- Reading a Bali villa, scooter or restaurant price in dollars
- Converting Indonesian freelance income back to the US
- Pricing a supplier invoice from Indonesia
Tip: Rupiah prices have many zeros: drop three to read Rp150,000 as '150K', then divide by the rate. Check notes carefully when paying cash, because Rp20,000 and Rp50,000 notes are easy to confuse after a long day.
About the two currencies
The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is issued by Bank Indonesia and used in Indonesia. Indonesian law requires payments inside the country to be made in rupiah. The largest note is Rp100,000, and the QRIS QR-code standard covers most card-free payments.
The United States Dollar (USD) is issued by the Federal Reserve and used in the United States and its territories, and also Ecuador, El Salvador, Panama (alongside the balboa), Timor-Leste, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau and several Caribbean territories. It is the world's main reserve and invoicing currency: oil, most commodities and a large share of world trade are priced in dollars, which is why so many cross rates are worked out through it.
