EUR to HUF over the last 30 days
Over the 23 ECB working days from 2 Sept 2026 to 2 Oct 2026, 1 EUR ranged from 361.58 HUF (22 Sept 2026) to 369.18 HUF (2 Oct 2026), averaging 365.13. Today's 369.18 is above that average by 1.11%.
For 1,000 EUR, that range is the difference between 361,578.23 and 369,178.44 HUF: 7,600.21 HUF, or 2.10% of the low. The biggest one-day move was -1.13% on 4 Sept 2026.
Example: a bank or card that sets its rate 3% worse than mid-market would pay 358,103.09 HUF for 1,000 EUR today instead of 369,178.44, keeping 11,075.35 HUF. That 3% is more than this rate's whole 30-day range, so the margin you pay matters more than the day you convert.
Who converts EUR to HUF, and why
Euros to forint is used by EU visitors to Budapest and Lake Balaton, by Austrians and Slovaks crossing the border to shop or for dental treatment, and by companies paying Hungarian staff or suppliers.
- Budgeting a Budapest weekend or Balaton holiday
- Converting a Hungarian dental or medical quote
- Paying Hungarian wages and invoices from a euro account
Tip: Avoid euro-to-forint exchange booths in Budapest's tourist streets and at the airport. A bank ATM with conversion declined, or a card charged in forint, is usually much closer to the mid-market rate.
About the two currencies
The Euro (EUR) is issued by the European Central Bank and the national central banks of the euro area and used in 21 EU member states (Bulgaria became the 21st on 1 January 2026), plus Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City by agreement, and Montenegro and Kosovo unilaterally. Coins run from 1 cent to €2 and notes from €5 to €200 in daily use. The €500 note is no longer issued but remains legal tender. The ECB publishes the reference rates this site uses.
The Hungarian Forint (HUF) is issued by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank and used in Hungary, an EU member that has kept its own currency. The forint replaced the pengő in 1946 after the worst hyperinflation ever recorded. The fillér subunit is no longer used, and cash totals are rounded to the nearest 0 or 5 forints.
