GBP to TRY over the last 30 days
Over the 23 ECB working days from 2 Sept 2026 to 2 Oct 2026, 1 GBP ranged from 64.5846 TRY (24 Sept 2026) to 65.7596 TRY (9 Sept 2026), averaging 65.2400. Today's 64.8753 is below that average by 0.56%.
For 1,000 GBP, that range is the difference between 64,584.57 and 65,759.63 TRY: 1,175.06 TRY, or 1.82% of the low. The biggest one-day move was -0.59% on 23 Sept 2026.
Example: a bank or card that sets its rate 3% worse than mid-market would pay 62,929.06 TRY for 1,000 GBP today instead of 64,875.32, keeping 1,946.26 TRY. That 3% is more than this rate's whole 30-day range, so the margin you pay matters more than the day you convert.
Who converts GBP to TRY, and why
Pounds to lira is used by British holidaymakers in Dalaman, Marmaris, Fethiye and Antalya, by UK residents travelling for dental work or hair transplants in Istanbul, and by Turkish families in the UK sending money home.

Tip: Clinic packages are often quoted in pounds or euros, but the treatment itself is priced in lira. Ask for the lira price and convert it here to check whether the package rate is fair.
About the two currencies
The British Pound Sterling (GBP) is issued by the Bank of England and used in the United Kingdom; Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man issue their own pound notes at par, and Gibraltar, the Falkland Islands and St Helena have pounds pegged one-to-one. Scottish and Northern Irish banks also print sterling notes. They are legal currency but shops in England can refuse them, so travellers often swap them before leaving.
The Turkish Lira (TRY) is issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye and used in Türkiye and Northern Cyprus. In 2005 six zeros were removed (1 new lira = 1,000,000 old lira). High inflation in the 2020s means the lira has lost value quickly, so tourist prices are often also shown in euros or dollars.
