JPY to EUR over the last 30 days
Over the 23 ECB working days from 2 Sept 2026 to 2 Oct 2026, 1 JPY ranged from 0.00541 EUR (2 Sept 2026) to 0.00565 EUR (2 Oct 2026), averaging 0.00557. Today's 0.00565 is above that average by 1.47%.
For 1,000 JPY, that range is the difference between 5.41 and 5.65 EUR: 0.24 EUR, or 4.41% of the low. The biggest one-day move was +1.98% on 3 Sept 2026.
Example: a bank or card that sets its rate 3% worse than mid-market would pay 5.48 EUR for 1,000 JPY today instead of 5.65, keeping 0.17 EUR. This rate moved more than 3% within the month, so timing mattered as much as the margin.
Who converts JPY to EUR, and why
Yen to euros is used by Japanese travellers visiting Europe, European shoppers buying from Japanese stores and auctions, and businesses pricing Japanese machinery, components and anime merchandise for European markets.
- Checking a Japanese online shop price in euros
- Budgeting a European trip from Japan
- Converting a yen supplier invoice for a European importer
Tip: Japanese shops shipping abroad usually leave out Japan's consumption tax, but EU import VAT is added on arrival. Convert the yen total including shipping, then add your country's VAT so the final euro cost is not a surprise.
About the two currencies
The Japanese Yen (JPY) is issued by the Bank of Japan and used in Japan. The yen has no subunit in everyday use, so prices carry no decimals. Coins go up to ¥500 and notes are ¥1,000, ¥5,000 and ¥10,000 (new designs entered circulation in July 2024).
The Euro (EUR) is issued by the European Central Bank and the national central banks of the euro area and used in 21 EU member states (Bulgaria became the 21st on 1 January 2026), plus Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City by agreement, and Montenegro and Kosovo unilaterally. Coins run from 1 cent to €2 and notes from €5 to €200 in daily use. The €500 note is no longer issued but remains legal tender. The ECB publishes the reference rates this site uses.
